The Canada Experience
Hi,
At last a newsletter.....

I guess if you have visited this site before you will have seen the main news - unrelated to Canada at all.  If not then
In an effort to fit in I am waving the maple leaf all over the site in true Canadian fashion (it is customary to wave at least one flag at every opportunity, as well as paint them on your face, arms, etc.).
I have now been here for 10 months, and ... it is very cold. The biggest news this week (April 28th) is that it is at last above freezing (just).  Things are looking up.
On the plus side, the cold means that I have had plenty of opportunity to ski - apparently the best season they have had in Jasper for 30 yrs.
Sonia and Julia came out for a week of skiing at the end of March (I had been reliably informed that it would be warmer by then).  We had a great time - unfortunately my source was not quite as reliable as I thought, as it was -20 C for several days, while reaching a balmy -7 C for the last day.
Wildlife
Brown Bears
Black Bears
Elk
Mountain Sheep
Wolf
Mountain Goat
Cougar
Chipmunk
Red Squirrel

Work is very good - everybody is very friendly and helpfull. The babies seem to behave in much the same way as in Blighty.  I am due to start a year of research from July, which should be a welcome change.
My next trip back to the UK may be in May, but I am not quite decided as yet - Mexico also sounds quite tempting.
Well - Bye for now,

Justin
