| OK! We have now seen a bear! In fact have seen 4 bears - more about that later! As most people reading this are aware, Sonia has now joined me in sunny Alberta. The weather has much improved - it was 32'C this last weekend!!!!! (plus, not minus - a great improvement). Frostbite is but a distant memory (32'C is only 3'C off the all-time record in Edmonton). A great year is ahead - most of the UK seem to be planning a visit - real company at last! Mum and Dad are planning to be here at the end of July for one month, and Julia returns with various company for the annual skiing trip (well 2 years in a row now - all those wishing to participate please sign the visitors book and I will get back to you). |

| Anybody who has recently visited the photo section will realise that we have been on a wildlife extravaganza. See below for individual species!! Jasper has over 1500km of "back country" hikes - this means that you can walk and camp for anything up to 7 days without seeing civilisation. Just remember to boil your drinking water, or you will experience "beaver fever" - giardia to those in the know. 7 days sounds very smelly (and is - as you discover on returning to civilisation when everybody pulls faces), but you don't notice while on the trail (honest!!) - and you can always wash in the rivers (glacial run-off) - an experience not easily forgotten (as several missing digits to remind you). Well thats all for now, here are the latest wildlife sightings .... |
