Hello!
It has been a little while since the last letter !!!
Christmas 2002 now seems like a long time ago.
Here is a brief update on what has happened in the time since:
Returning from Canada was a fairly hectic period in our lives - leaving six weeks until we were to be married - a huge ammount of thanks for all the behind the scenes work from Sonia's parents without which the wedding could not have taken place.
Immediately following the Wedding we flew to Botswana on Honeymoon, and had a fantastic time on Safari, and also in Mauritius relaxing and recovering afterwards!
..... then back to work.
There is no doubt that medicine in the UK is different to medicine in Canada. Some things are better, and some things worse. Canada was great in that I felt I was actually practising medicine, doing what I have been trained to do - and not spending all day running around doing jobs that it would be far more sensible that somebody else (with less training) did - such as trying to locate a bed for a baby on another unit, involving waiting on the phone for 20 mins each time I page somebody, only to find out that either there is no bed, or that the swithboard had contacted the wrong person.
England on the other hand is home. It is definately not as cold, and everything is much closer.
Sonia has been working at Barnet Hospital - following in my footsteps, and agrees with me that this is a fantastic place for core training. Everybody is lovely, very supportive and normal.....
I have also had a good year at the Homerton, and much as I enjoyed Barnet, it is good to be back to the small babies.
Anyway, thats all for now - more when there is news of the baby...
